Logic
dictates that all subsequent devices in a product line should be better than
the one that came before it. This is what everyone expects. It’s what consumers
demand. It’s also exactly what LG has delivered with the new LG G Flex 2
phablet. This impressive piece of mobile hardware comes just over a year after
the South Korean electronics giant dropped the original LG G Flex, its first curved
Android smartphone, which didn’t quite set our pulses racing as company execs and designers might have
hoped. Pleasingly, this follow-up to the G Flex runs smaller and lighter than
its predecessor. It also comes equipped with a number of other features that
clearly mark it out as an obvious upgrade over the device that came before it.
Here’s a closer look at what this more polished version has to offer.

4 Takeaways from Duke’s OT Win Over UNC
College basketball rivalries don’t get much bigger than Duke versus North Carolina. These two storied programs, which have won a total of nine NCAA tournament titles between them, scripted the latest chapter in this riveting intrastate series on Wednesday night at Duke’s famed Cameron Indoor Stadium. Like so many installments before it, this one also turned out to be a thriller. Spurred on by the typically fanatical support of the “Cameron Crazies”, it was the home team which dug just that little bit deeper to eke out a tight and tense 92-90 victory in the ESPN-televised game. Here’s a rundown of our four biggest takeaways from this classic contest.

Charter Leads Charge on Downloadable Security
Securing
systems responsible for the delivery of service has always been a primary
concern for telecommunications companies. With the threats posed to these
systems rising at an alarming rate, service providers are seeking more
efficient and effective ways of combating the often crippling dangers posed by
people intent on gaining unauthorized access to their networks. Charter’s
efforts in this regard will soon see it testing a cloud-based, downloadable security
system for its new set-top boxes. This testing phase is expected to commence
within the coming weeks.

Charter Boosts Subscriber Base with All-Digital Overhaul
The content
distribution landscape in America is slowly changing. The emergence of
over-the-top (OTT) content delivery alternatives has started to pose a
challenge to traditional pay-TV providers. Despite these challenges, cable
provider Charter still managed to grow its video subscriber base during the
fourth quarter of 2014. The approximately 3,000 new TV customers added pushed
the company’s total number of video subscribers to almost 4.2 million. This
uptick was attributable to a number of important factors. Chief among these was
the completion of Charter’s conversion from a partially analog distribution network
to an all-digital one. This resulted in the delivery of an improved range of
services to even more customers.

New Nintendo 3DS XL Comes Stateside
There
was a time when the U.S. release of new goodies – whether consoles or games – from
Japanese giant Nintendo was a really, really big deal. If you’re of a certain
vintage, you’ll quickly recall that our collective love affair with Nintendo
all started with the release of what is still widely acclaimed as the most iconic game in the history of gaming: Super Mario Bros. This
title (and its various spinoffs) was the vehicle that drove so many of the
company’s handheld consoles – including the Game Boy and the Nintendo DS – into
our lives.
